Fairy tales as Dreams: The Little Mermaid (Queer Dreamwork Class with Gregory Ganymedes)

Voicing Homoerotic Pathos: A Queer Dreamwork Class by guest teacher Gregory Ganymedes

Though evidence of humanity’s broad sexual spectrum and gender variation is inextricably woven throughout our collective history, these queer themes are often hidden and de-centered in tales and myths, particularly in the West. In this workshop, we will employ depth psychology’s insights to re-center the storyteller’s homosexual heartbreak he distilled into his infamous tragedy of a love-stricken young siren who concedes to silence and sacrifice in pursuit of a soul.

We will discover what it means to re-center queerness in our personal dreamwork as we do with this story, and open our discussion to explore our participants’ dreams in the same inclusive, liberated vein.

About our guest teacher, Gregory Ganymedes

Greg is the creator and curator of the Ganymede Project, an exploration of the queer masculine psyche through depth psychology, archetype, spirituality, and myth. He runs virtual queer men’s dream circles.
